Fall is here! The weather is beginning to cool down in NY, and hats and scarves are once again the fashion accessory of choice around the city.
I was recently asked to make a hat based on the one worn by the character Jayne Cobb in the show Firefly. I’ve never seen the show, but after looking at some pictures on the internet I discovered that the hat definitely has an autumnal color scheme/feel. It was the perfect project to transition into the season.
I started by following this pattern, but quickly realized I had to adjust the sizing for a smaller head. I also decided to decrease stitches at the top instead of closing the hat by weaving it shut.
My brother is the model in the pics above. He’s a good sport.
