Love Bug – The Pattern

Here it is! Finally! Sorry, this took so long. After I posted the original I decided to make few changes.

Love Bug: Materials:

  • White Yarn
  • Pink Yarn
  • Red Yarn
  • Magenta yarn
  • Tapestry needle
  • 3.5 or 4mm hook
  • 6mm safety eyes

Body – With Pink Yarn

R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from the hook

R2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)

R3: With Magenta Yarn: 1sc, 2sc in next (18)

R4: Pink: *2sc, 2sc in next* repeat around (24)

R5: Magenta: *3sc, 2sc in next* rep around (30)

R6-9: Sc 30 around (30) alternating colors – pink, magenta, pink, magenta

R10-12: With pink yarn Sc 30 around (30)

R13: *3sc, dec 1* rep around (24) Add Eyes

R14: *2sc, dec 1* rep around (18)

R15: *1sc, dec 1* rep around (12)

R16: dec around to close


Wings (Make 2) – With White Yarn

R1: Ch 3, turn

R2: Ch1, 2sc in next, 1 sc, 2sc in last, turn (5)

R3: Ch1, 2sc in next, 3sc, 2sc in last, turn (7)

R4: Ch1, 2sc in next, 5sc, 2 sc in last, turn (9)

R5-7: Ch1, 4sc, turn (4)

R8: Ch1,  turn, 2 dec, Sl st along inner edge of wing until you come back to the original Row 4, sl st in 5th sc of row 4, Sc 4 across, turn   (Check the photo below)

R9-10:  Ch1, Sc 4 across, turn (4) R11: Ch1, 2 dec (2) Sl st around outside of entire wing-heart. Leave tail to attach to back of body.

Legs (Make 6)

R1: Ch 3, turn

R2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across (3) Leave tail for weaving.

Attach 3 legs with even separation on both sides of body.


Little Heart Antennae (Make 2)

Chain 5, turn Ch 1,  2 sc, 3sc in next sc, 2sc (7)

Slip stitch around the outside of the heart until you come to the bottom (where you 3sc in one sc). Here, sl st and ch 1. Continue to sl st around. Attach to top of head.
