Something Different

mishka eyeball

My boyfriend has been doing some work with a clothing company in NYC called MISHKA. They specialize in urban street wear that feature incredibly detailed illustrations.  Since there has been a lot of MISHKA talk around the apartment lately, I decided to see if I could recreate their iconic eyeball design with yarn. The basic shape was easy (stitches in the round in black, blue, and white), but the veins on the outside were a bit tricky. I used a lot of free-form crochet and made up the shapes as I went along. It was a lot of fun, and made me think about creating 3-D crochet forms in a different way. The final design isn’t as “cute” as the stuff I normally make, but I think it worked out ok.
